I am using my own daughter as a test subject for a rather... unconventional... experiment. An experiment that may very well alter the course of humanity and the human experience as we know it.
I am getting her hooked on Star Wars in the COMPLETELY WRONG ORDER.
Oh, I hear you saying "Well obviously he means that he's showing her A New Hope first", and others of you are saying "Ah, he's obviously starting at Episode I The Phantom Menace", while yet others of you who consider yourselves wiser and more learned in the ways of The Force assume "Chainsaw Order" (4, 5, 2, 3, 6).
You're all wrong.
First, BACKGROUND.
I have attempted to have her watch the original Star Wars (Episode 4 A New Hope) a handful of times over the years, and she's never really latched on. As was the case with most of my nieces, it's just too slow of a movie for their modern sensibilities. And so it is that her knowledge of Star Wars is cursory at best, have gleaned most of her knowledge through the Star Tours Ride and Jedi Training Academy at Disneyland. Here is the extent of her knowledge:
In short, she has the same general idea of the Star Wars Mythos as the average Pennsylvania Coal Miner - "Is that the movie where the guy flies around outer-space with his Space Monkey and helps the kid with the laser sword?"
So basically, a blank slate.
THE EXPERIMENT: Molly shall be indoctrinated in to the world of Star Wars NOT via the movies in any order, but through the CLONE WARS ANIMATED SERIES.
This is *exciting* for me... she is seeing Anakin as a well-respected, admired Jedi! She has NO IDEA that he's going to become Darth Vader! She will have a less jarring introduction to Jar Jar Binks! The ENTIRE UNIVERSE will become a story of Anakin Skywalker's fall from grace and eventual redemption! A tale of Jango Fett's legacy! Instead of constantly comparing everything to her memory of the original trilogy, she'll be building upon the story that erupts from a simple cartoon!
