I have opinions!

Okay, so OBVIOUSLY Molly is on board - she is THE target demographic for this, what with being a nine-year-old girl, and I have to admit that a series based on My Little Ponification of the Ladies of the DC Universe is a brilliant idea (even if they ARE counting Harley Quinn as a hero just so they can fill their Pinkie-Pie Quota), but...

Okay, there are rumblings in the Animation Community that make me kind of hate the *why* of this cartoon more than the execution. See, it all starts with the Brilliant-But-Cancelled "Young Justice".

They made the Young Justice series to appeal to the coveted "Tween Boy" market - Males age 8 to 14. They focused on the children of the DC Universe, the side-kicks, the teenagers, and WOW was it a thing of beauty. Did pretty darned awesome in the ratings, too! But it committed an unforgivable sin... it drew in the wrong demographic.

They were shooting for the Boys age 8 to 14, what they got were the *GIRLS* age 8 to 14. WHat the boys seem to be drawn to these days are super-hyper 12-minute nonsensical hysteria (that's a quote, not me being judgmental of Sponge Bob, Uncle Grandpa, Amazing World of Gumball, The Regular Show et al). Boys, it seems, can't handle complex storylines and multiple adult character interactions.

Twelve minutes of Fart Jokes, that's what grabs the demographic they wanted.

So rather than running with a good thing and saying "Wow we may have discovered that this generation of Girls could be the hugest untapped potential audience EVER let's exploit that", they said "Oooh, if girls like THIS, then they'll SURELY like ti much more if we make them look like Bratz Dolls and give them a My Little Pony style of animation instead! Let's make it all about Friendship, Kindness and FASHION! The REAL Super Power is GRRL POWER, and it's FIERCE!"

I find this to be as insulting as if my daughter were to pick up a hammer and saw to build something, and they take the tools right out of her hand and replace them with a pink hammer and a bedazzled hair dryer. They already liked it! You don't need to "Feminize" it for them!

tl;dr - "Welcme To Super Hero High", don't worry your pretty little heads about it, we know what you little ladies like ;)
