Bigger House On The Prairie

captain_slinkyYeah, I'm watching the Disney remake of Little house On The Prairie on ABC right now.
Yeah.
They, uhm...
I don't really know how they did this, mind you, but, uhm... they *Disnefied* Little House On The Prairie. One of the most pure, family-friendly shows in the hisotry of forever, and they toned it down for today's audiences.
How?
For starters, everything is so damn CLEAN. These people are traveling for MONTHS to Kansas, and their era-specific clothing stays immaculately clean for the entire trip. They build a log cabin in the middle of no where by a muddy river, and they stay immaculately clean. CAROLINE BREAKS HER FRIGGIN' ANKLE BY DROPPING A LOG ON IT, AND THE ONLY WAY WE KNOW IS BECASUE OF THE MAKE-UP JOB DONE UNDER THE CLOTHES!!!
Secondly, they added a bunch of 90's touchy-feely "Wuss Rock" anthems for their montage sceenes. Some scruffy looking 20-something guy in faded jeans and a "hoodie" with an acoustic guitar singing aout how he wants to admire some girl for her mind and respect her deeply or some such crap. Good for playing in the stereo of your van while driving your "differently chromozoned but totaly equal" friend home from the Lillith Fair concert trying to get laid, but completely out of place on the 19th Century prairies of Kansas.
And thirdly, DEAR LORD could they have possibly used more slow motion? Okay, I get it; little Laura loves romting through the fields. She loves romping barefoot. She loves looking at stuff. She loves smelling stuff. And how do e know that she loves all these things? Because they all get their very own 5-minute section of SLOOOOOOOOOOW MOOOOTIIIIONNNNNNNN.
But after I put asside those three problems, I ended up really enjoying the show. That may only be because of sentimental reasons though, I'm not quite sure. I'll give it another chance next week and see how it goes. But if they throw in any "Grrl Power" or "Extreme Sports" type stuff in there, then I'm done with it.
