Seems I should have stayed on "Soft Foods" much longer than I actually did, and that's what's causing me all the pain. And for the record, the following treats are not considered to be "Soft Foods" to your convelescng mouth, regardles of what your orhter tactile senses may think:

  • Big Mac
  • Jumbo Jack
  • Skipper's Fried Fish
  • Sushi
  • Chinese Food
  • Rice/Whole Grains of pretty much any kind
  • Pizza (Pepperoni, Bacon OR just plain cheese)
  • Chocolate (including but not limited to Snickers, Reeses Peanut Butter Cups, Crunch, Krackle, Chocolate bunnies abd those little foil-wrapped chocolate footballs you get in your Easter Basket)
  • French Fries
  • Tater Tots
  • Nuts of any kind (WHAT THE HELL WAS I THINKING?!?!?)
  • Any fast-food or convenience item with descriptive text including the words "Crunchy", "Chewy", "Bacon", "Crispy" and/or "Encrusted".

So I'm back on the very, very, VERY soft foods for the next week. But I want to get back to doing Atkins, so I'm going to try going with just shakes and Jello for a few days, see how that ends up (and by "How That Ends Up", I mean "How Long I Can Do That Before I'm Found Passed Out In The General Tso's Chicken At The 'Foody Goody Chinese Buffet'").

Wish me luck!

Yes, yes it does. Thank you for pointing it out. And if you happen to work somewhere that requires you to move your mouth a lot (like talking on the phone), it REALLY sucks :(
