[livejournal.com profile] khristle and I don't play Magic: The Gathering (hereafter refered to as "MTG") with other people. Other people expect you to know and play by "The Rules". Other people also know "Killer Combos", "Callectable Values" and other such things that just detract from our enjoyment of the game. The closest we usually come to playing with other people is when we would go to play with [livejournal.com profile] dotgirl and [livejournal.com profile] collisions at their place. But they live a half hour away and they actually have *lives*, so scheduling time to play with them is usually not in the cards.

So mostly we play alone.

We pick a restaurant (most of the time Qudoba) where we can get fre refills on our soda and just spend a few hours playing there, just her and me. It's great! But also very predictable, since we each own just the 6 different decks.

Well tonight we invited [livejournal.com profile] aquatwo and [livejournal.com profile] spazzychic in to our little world. I don't know about the other parties involved, but I thurroughly enjoyed myself! I played all but one of my decks and they all did pretty well! An afternoon/evening of geeky comments, schizophrenic music and enough soda to float a Goblin Barge. I'm glad they made the trek to our neck of the woods!

My decks performance:

Myrs-a-poppin' never got off the ground. It was sad, because he's my bestest deck :(

Dragon Wizards did okay, but the Dragons were gone almost as soon as they appeared!

Sucker did better than it ever has EVER, but only because I was such a non-threat with it.

Kype (formerly "The Divorce Deck") was my favorite to play all night long. I like taking people's stuff and using it against them in horrific ways. Steal it, clone it and mutate it, that's our motto!

i brought it, you took it, heh. was great.

sorry for freaking on the 4x Sol Ring thing. i'll try to be cooler on stuff like that next time. oh, and if you do get curious...
http://www.wizards.com/default.asp?x=judge/resources/sfrvintage (as that seems to be what we play, albeit casually...)

i had a wonderful time today and want to thank you for tolerating me. i did my best to tone myself down and will keep trying to be as casual a player as possible. it was fun to get out and hang with you guys. ^_^

Nah, you did great! You're always fun to play with because you realize that it's "just a game", unlike some of the other people I used to play with. Pointing out that there should only be 1 Sol Ring per deck is NOTHING compared to the "Dammit you said this was a Type Two deck and it's clearly not how DARE you waste my time" Babies that scarred us away from trying to pich up games at local game shops :)

You didn't feak out! Thanks for letting me know about the Sol Rings, I wouldn't cheat on purpouse but I must admit that I don't go read the erratas (spelling?) to make sure that I'm not. And like I said, you totally would have won if I hadn't drawn two Rings on turn one as my deck is usually painfully slow.

Really, as long as you aren't throwing dice or yelling we're cool :)
