Wizards of the Coast RULZ!!!
Mar. 26th, 2002 11:00 amRecently, I have gotten Crystal in to playing Magic: The Gathering. She is, of course, addicted now. Since we were down in the Kent/Renton area yesterday and I knew where the building was, I decided to take her by the Wizards of the Coast Corporate headquarters. If you have never been there, you should go... it's very keen! Lots of full-size sculptures of the characters depicted on Magic cards, original artwork, and displays of all the WotC product line (Harry Potter, Looney Tunes, Pokemon, D&D, and every expansion of Magic: The Gathering, as well as new sets of lead figures based on Magic characters). So anyways, we go in to the reception desk and are greeted by a very large Shivan Dragon (old-timers in the Seattle area will remember this fella from the U-District tournament Center). The front-desk receptionist was extremely friendly (not overly friendly... just really nice) and was very happy to hear that I had brought Crystal to see the "Birth Place" of Magic. So happy, as a matter of fact, that she gave us each a starter deck and several booster packs for what looks like 5th Edition, in German and Spanish! She then told us to feel free to wander around and have fun. We got to see some guys working on new cards for the next expansion, guys in suits having a meeting about marketing stuff, and of course all sorts of really cool full-size sculptures.
It was a very good day :)
