Thought I'd cross-post this in to my own LJ since not many freidns are in the [livejournal.com profile] disney_ideas community.

Hey kids! I've got a great fun game for us all to play based on our favorite subject, improving Disneyland!

The three basic quotes to keep in mind are these (and forgive me if I mis-quote here; doing it all from memory):

"Disneyland will never be completed. It will continue to grow as long as there is imagination left in the world."

"Disneyland is NOT a Museum."

"If you're going to replace an older attraction with a newer one make sure it's more elaborate, more sophisticated, more amazing than the one previous."

Keeping those three quotes in mind, what Disneyland attraction would you take out, and what would you replace it with. No fair retro-replacing such as putting the old Country Bears back in place of the Winnie The Pooh fiasco... if you're gonna bring the Country Bears back you have to explain how it's gonna be bigger and better than ever before.

Got it?

Good!

Now let the ideas flow!

REMOVE the Victorian/Jules Verne-esque copper-and-Brass theme from Tomorrow Land.
REPLACE it with a generically Star Trek/Star Wars theme incorporating bright "Neon" blues and reds on a beige contoured background. Touch-panel help screens with recorded voice information should be plentiful along the walkways... think of the same technology that they used at Disney World for the interactive Mickeys, only in a stationary place. Guests could use the touch screen to see what the wait time for a ride in Fantasyland is like, check the menu and prices of different eateries in the park, check show times... al with a pleasing futuristic computer voice telling them the information. Make Tomorrowland look like TOMORROW once again :)

It is a very good idea, even if I DO say so myself! in the late 80's/early 90's "They" decided to re-do Tomorrow Land. It HAD been this really nifty retro-60's vision of The Future with lots of sterile-wite and Apollo-16 themes about the place, now it's just convoluted modern sculpture that's supposed to look spacey but is really just an eyesore.

Bright neon blues and reds? ;) Someone misses the "Tron" ride from the old Tomorrowland.

Exactly! Gotta get *some* Disney in there somehow, right?

OOOOH! ANd it could all light-up at night, look like a set straight out of Tron!

I think it would be cool if the Monorail went to ALL the hotels. It's such a neato concept. Get up and have some breakfast, then hop the Monorail into the park. When it gets hot, pop back on the Monorail and take a nap in your room. Then hit the park again in time for the night time showing of the parade and the fireworks show. (I believe it only goes to two of the on-site hotels now.)

Another thing, I'm not sure it's quite timely to be changing the submarine ride to a Finding Nemo theme. Maybe three years ago, but now there have been newer Pixar movies and no cares about Nemo anymore. I'm sure it will rock, it's just a bit late. I'll bet 4 years from now they're going to change Autopia to a Cars theme.

I liked the old tommorow land. I rode on the ride to mars, and it was neat as a kid, inspiring. You walked thru mission control, then sat in what seemed like a rocket, the seats really moved to make you feel like you were lifting off and landing and such. They had a viewscreen that showed where you were going and such when you got to mars. I wouldn't mind seeing a more updated version of that since we may be going to mars in the future. They also had a microscopic adventure that they replaced with a starwars ride. Something sciency would be cool. The microscopic ride was kinda hokey, but as a kid it was always empty lines, so we would pretend it was scary and scream all the way through, and the line would fill up with other kids screaming their lungs out in about 15 minutes. That was fun. Tron was cool, although boring for what they could have done with it. If they ever put out Tron 2.0 as a movie, it would be neat to update that. Maybe they could throw in the incredibles or something futurish? Seattle Center is more futurish though now than disney is.

Indeed, the "Mission To Mars" would be great to bring back as a two-tiered ride - the rocket trip to Mars and then disembark in to our first Martian space station! A simple walk-through attraction with animatronics and other robotics showing your average "Day in the life" living on Mars.

I like it! And my idea for the modernization of Tomorrow Land would totaly fit in with a Tron remake :)
