Just got screwed out of $24 on my paycheck because I helped a friend out. NEW RULE is that on ANY shift that you work volluntarily, regardless of what hours of the day it takes place, you will not get your Shift Differential for that shift. So even though I'm working till 12:30 in the morning and they usually pay me $13 an hour to work those hours? If it's someone else's shift that I'm just covering, I'll only be paid $11.50 per hour. Same work, same hours, less pay.

I still have no idea how that works.

But I *do* know that if I offer to swap shifts with anybody in the future? I will log in as them and they will log in as me. That way neither one of us gets docked pay.

Yeah, but won't that skew your stats? And is that trick legit as far as Rescource/payroll is concerned?

Nope, not legit at all! ANd I'd rather take 1 day of non-me stats than pay $24 for the privelege of working someone else's shift.

Not legit at all... but then again, charging me $48 (total) to help a co-werker out isn't very legit in my book!

Also, posting that you are going to do something that could get you fired on your work computer is probably not a great idea.

okay so this shift you traded off, did it normally have diff? Or did you do OT from 8pm to 12:30?

Because if the shift ended after 8:15 I would think it would still qualify for diff, but hell this is a bottom line company and I'm sure they are saving thousands a month if they can lower their differental pay outs. Possibly more than not putting in time card stations, or from start the clock from 5 minutes after you put in your NT login. that record exactly when you start or end your shift. Lot of OT that is not getting paid out that way. When I was doing the management thing, we cracked down hardest on those people who routinly posted 15 minutes of OT by staying a few minutes late or arriving a few minutes early.

It wasn't OT... we swapped shifts that week. She had Friday off, I had Sunday off. We traded so that I was not working her Sunday, and she was working my Friday. Both of us were left with 40 hours in the week, no more no less.

Only now we're both $24 lighter than we were before the swap because (1) we don't get Diff for the shifts we workd on non-regular days, and (2) we don't get diff for the days of our normal schedule that we didn't work.

And it sucks :(
