Ya know what else really ticks me off? Animation that doesn't need to be animates. I think the first instance of this that I can remember was the cartoon "Doug". There was nothing fantastic about the cartoon, nothing in any of the scripts that a director would have to say "Man... there is NO WAY i could ever get a budget to film something like that! It's gonna have to be drawn!" You could easily re-enact any episode of Doug with regular kids in costumes. Other shows/movies that tick me off like this include Rocket Power (which has nothing to do with rockets OR power), Hey Arnold, Disney's Recess, Pepper Ann, and a slew of other crap that is currenly littering Nickelodeon and Saturday mornings.
New rule: Unless you've got a talking sponge, super powers, an anthropamorphic animal, or space battles, you are not allowed to be animated. Deal?

Date: 2002-07-03 01:04 pm (UTC)I personally hate Sponge Bob, but I feel that it needs to be animated. you really couldn't have done that without animation, ya know? Rocko's Modern Life i dig, and think that Recess is one of the best cartoons out there right now (with the exception of the new voice, agree with ya there). BUT! I *do not* think that Recess needs to be animated! That show would have bee just as good using real actors and actresses... BETTER, imho.
So what is my point here? Well, it's not that I hate all these animated shows without elements of the fantastic in them... I just hate that they are animated, and wastng the tme of animators that could be spending this time better bringing us the next GI Joe, Transformers, Superfriends, or heck, even Gilligan's Planet!
*whew*! Okay, rant done... so, hw many HeroClix you got?
