I think I'll be cross-posting this a bit to try and get my answer.

So since our Cable got shut off yesterday, I've been going through all the VHS tapes I've been accumulating over the years looking for stuff that Molly will enjoy watching with me. One of the tapes I found is actually a t-tape boxed set of "A Day At Disneyland" and "The Magic Of Christmas At Disneyland". Of course neither of them have a date on them, so I'm really curious to figure out what year these tapes were made! They're a great glimpse in to the Disneyland of yesteryear :)

So here are the clues on the tape of "A Day At Disneyland" that I was able to gather. What year do you think this was made?
  • The Main Street Electrical Parade was still going on.
  • Fantasmic was the big act before the fireworks.
  • Splash Mountain was up and running.
  • Pirates Of The Carribean still had Pirates chasing women and the Wench Auction.
  • Swiss Family Robinson Treehouse was still The Swiss Family Robinson Treehouse.
  • Beauty & The Beast seems to be the most recent movie that any reference was made to.
  • Launchpad McQuack for Disney's "Duck Tales" was a featured character, but no mention of Chip & Dale Rescue Rangers.
So! Anybody have a guess as to what year it was? I have my own hunches, but I won't post them till everybody has had a chance to give a guess :)

Oh, and also! Anybody interested in a DVD copy of these videos? I'm thinking of hooking up my VCR to my PC and encoding a few files... think I'd sell 'em for $10 each. Does that sound fair?

Based on my knowledge of Beauty and the Beast (91) and Aladdin came out in November '92 - and the fact that Fantasmic started in early 92, if I recall correctly, I'd have to say mid-92.

Splash Mountain was open in like the late 80s, the Treehouse wasn't changed until Hercules came out, which is way after B&B, and the Electrical Parade ran in DL until at least 96.

Apparently I know a stupid amount of stuf about Disneyland/Disney. Though most of it is probably due to personal experience at the park/watching the movies as they came out.

I mean really... if it were as easy as looking it up on IMDB don't you think I'd have done that already :P

Best guess according to all involved is that it was mid-'92 when this one was put out; slightly after the debut of "Fantasmic", slightly before the release of "Aladin".

IMDB says that the 2004 version is an updated version with segments on Toon Town. Mine is not that version. The Disney Community is up in arms over trying to place this video, seems they made very slight alterations to it every few months from the first printing in 1987 till the latest one which was 2004.

Have you done Wilie Wonka, Alice in Wonderland, Wizard of OZ, Episodes of the Racoons, Godzilla (originals), Care Bears, Ultimate Avengers - The Movie, Goonies of course, ET perhaps (maybe a little young yet), and of course if she has not all ready seen it she needs to see this:

I think I have all of the above... however, I'm still looking for a DVD set that was (supposedly) called "Sesame Street: Unpaved" that was a collection of early episodes. So far I haven't been ale to find any evidence that this exists, though :( Just a book.

Perhaps you are thinking of Sesame Street: Old School, a multi-volume DVD collection. I happen to have volume one (a three-disc set) which has episodes from 1969 - 1974, including the original sales pitch for the series from '69 (which features, albeit briefly, the brown incarnation of cute and loveable Grover) and the very first episode. Why don't you swing by my work sometime, I'll loan it to you?

Cool, thanks! I just started downloading it off the torrent site that I frequent... looks EXCELLENT!

And you'll be happy to know that Molly is finally getting in to watching Sesame Street, and her favorite characteris OF COURSE Grover :D
