Speaking of My Next Podcast...
Jun. 4th, 2007 09:38 amhave several "Bits" planned for my next podcast, but the more I think about them the more I hate them. Do any of these sound like things you'd actually like to hear about?
Also, how LONG do you think i should aim for? I like to try and keep it limited to a half-hour, but going on to 45-minutes or even an hour sounds mighty nice...
Opinions?
- The Adventures Of Slightly-Efeminate Southern Drawl Jimmy Olsen
- Careers I'm Interested In
- What Comic Books Are In Brian's Bathroom This Week?
- Virtual Interview W/Someone You May Or May Not Know

Date: 2007-06-04 06:51 pm (UTC)Work from an outline. I can't stand podcasts where they go on about "What should we talk about now? Hmm?"
I would go with something like this if you want it interesting for ME.
5 minutes introduction and personal blog.
5 minutes song (you have so many good ones)
10 minutes comic books, webcomics, games, movies, or whatever you are interested in talking about this episode
10 minutes interview or spotlight on some project you really like or in depth review of something.
I would rather see you put up 2 thirty minute podcasts and start building a library of them than see one long one. You could put one out a week or every two weeks.
I would limit it to one song per podcast. That is a draw factor and you should be stingy with it to keep bringing people in.
Now you know what would make ME happy. Now go do what you want!

Date: 2007-06-04 07:02 pm (UTC)I agree about the 30 min length.
I would be interested in hearing what you come up with for the Virtual Interview (VIWSYMOMNK)
Would the WCBARBBTW be a comic book review? That would be kind of cool, but you would have to be very careful not to give away spoiler. I think that might be tough for you to do.

Date: 2007-06-04 07:11 pm (UTC)Your structure is good... it's solid, profound... but I'm also considering doing podcasts on a certain subject each week instead of folowing a certain structure. I *always* have an outline going for me first with written scripts for prompting, then I like to record the bits of the program in the seconds I get between yelling "MOLLY WHAT ARE YOU - NO KEEP THAT OUT OF YOUR MOUTH AND NO DO NOT STICK IT IN THE KITTY!!!" every few minutes.
I'm going to be using the Podcast as a demo-reel for trying to get an internship at a local radio station (any will do).
Anywho, here's the basic structure I'm working with now, asume that all songs are on whatever topic I have chosen for the week:
-3 Min. Introduction and Summary of Topic
-3 Min. Song
-5 Min. On-Topic Bit
-3 Min. Song
-3 Min. Song (optional depending on if I find too much music on the subject)
-5 Min On-Topic Top 3 List
-3 Min. Song
-5 Min. Revolving Bit ("Virtual Interview", "Brian's Bathroom", "Comic-Book Cover Audio Re-Enactment", "The Adventures Of Slightly-Efeminate Southern Drawl Jimmy Olsen")
-5 Min End-Of-Show wrap-up w/closing song of the week.
Whadaya think?

He actually saved it for me! How cool!
So anywho, THAT Podcast may have little or no resemblance to what I'm doing in the future. That one was just a test :)
