Being a Stay-At-Home Dad has given me opportunities to explore variations I had never considered before.

I have now seen Mary Poppins SO MANY TIMES, I've started creating Gaiman-esque back-stories for each character, the world they live in, and the rules of their particular "Magic".

I think it's time to switch over to Chitty-Chitty Bang-Bang for a while.

Arggh!

Lots of stuff about the untapped magik of finding each person's inner melody and singing your way in to manipulating that persons actions. Stuff about Bert having been an American child in England that Mary Poppins took care of some 80 years ago, and how he discovered her secret and taught himself the Melody Magik. This of course split his being in to two seperate parts; the eternally young and directionless "Chimneysweep", and the cold-hearted and calculating Bank President.

This all explains (a) Bert's terrible fake cockney accent, (b) the uncanny resemblance between Bert and The Bank President, and (c) the lyrics "Wind's in the East / Mist coming in / Like somethin' is brewin' / About to begin / Can't put me finger / On what lies in store / But I feel what's to happen / All happened before"

Okay, gotta post a video of the sceene I'm speaking of in my LJ so you can see it. It's just got this super-creepy vibe to it!
