Yes this blog is very Convention-centric right now... I'm absolutely STONED with delight and merriment over having gotten to be part of a Convention again! To not just be a paying customer, but a VENDOR! To come out of there with more money than I went in with! It's really just... magical :)

So! My HIGHLIGHTS!

  • Finding large runs of Sgt. Nick Fury & His Howling Commandos, Justice League (Giffen & DeMatties), All Star Squadron and Savage Sword of Conan Magazine in the QUARTER BINS! These are all comics that would usually be in the $1 to $2 bins at the very least!
  • [livejournal.com profile] supernovame geting caught-up in the moment many times with at least one accidental duplicate purchase and several "I... I'm gonna need more money" moments :)
  • The constant panic and chaos of setting up our table. 37 boxes of stuff compressed in to one 8-foot table. If not for [livejournal.com profile] khristle I don't know if I would have made it in time!
  • Trading my Great Big Optimus Prime (that we paid some $27 for on clearance) for $130 worth of Conan Trade Paperbacks. The guy wasn't too happy about the deal, but his girlfriend REALLY wanted my Optimus Prime :)
  • Giving away baby Spider-Man T-Shirts to parents who had brought their babies :)
  • Making special "Deals" for kids, teaching them the fine art of "Haggling" and possibly shaping their entire world for them before they even hit adolescence :)
  • Finding SO MANY PEOPLE interested in Board Games and Star Trek! I *knew* I wasn't crazy! People WILL buy a Swamp Thing Board Game for anywhere between $3 and $5, and I only pay $1.99 at the MOST for my board games! They're just so... pretty :)
  • 1960 Jack & Jill Magazine that was *supposed* to be all about Disneyland. See, they had made a deal with The Kid From "Old Yeller" (not the main kid, but the Little Brother) to give them an exclusive "Tour" of Disneyland and they would put out an entire issue with tons of pictures and devote the entire issue to it! Unfortunately, The Kid didn't much care for Disneyland. He went, rode the train, looked at Frontier Land and decided he was too bored to go on. So instead of an issue FULL of Disneyland pictures, they got 5 pictures and a cover shot that had been taken a few months before the actual "Tour". They had to scramble to throw together an entire issue of filler in time to go to press! And now I own a copy of that issue :)
  • One more "Polar Lights" Aurora Model Re-issue for my collection! I'm now the proud owner of a Vintage Reproduction "Lost In Space" Robot Model Kit! It looks very nice next to my Doctor Zaius, Spider-Man, Hulk, Klingon Bird Of Prey, Bat Mobile and Bat Plane reproduction model kits :)

Five billion boxes left :(

Seriously, let's see... about 20 in the outside storage closet her eat our apartment... another 15 in the various indoor closets here... then in storage unit #1 where I have most of MY stuff there's about 45 more, and then maybe 40 boxes of "personal" stuf fin Storage Unit #2 (that's all our Xmas stuff and old clothes waiting for us to fit in to them).

It's gonna be a long, fun Summer :)

Sometimes I do the math on how much you spend/have spent on storage rooms over the last few years and am sad for you.

Not sad enough to offer to help go through it, mind you - I have my own garage full of "stuff I need to just let go of" to deal with. ;)
