Beth is in Jail. Again.

I don't even remember if I posted about all this stuff before, so I'm gonna try to go all Readers Digest on it.

Beth is my older Sister, the one who (supposedly) kicked the rear window out of a cop car on the TV Show "Cops" from the inside. The one who lived with The Green River Killer. The one who has been a substance abuser all her life and has let booze ruin her life more times than can be counted. The one that I blame for my personal "Extreme Prude" intolerance of controlled substances.

Beth had finally gotten sober, or so it seemed. She moved in with my parents. She was getting her life back together. Then things went all wonky for her and she started drinking again. Just a little bit at first, then more and more.

One day my *other* sister and my Mom came home to find Beth EXTREMELY DRUNK and begging for help. Since she has Hepatitis C, her doctor agreed and she was admitted to The Psyche Ward up at the Burlington Hospital. They put her in some sort of program, completely volunteer, they gave her a place to try and dry out over the course of 5 days. She was free to walk away at any time, but if she DID walk away then that would be that - no second chances.

She made it the 5 days, PLUS a few extra days so they could evaluate her and see if she would be eligible for an ongoing support program. She did a lot of interviews and wowed everybody involved with her can-do attitude and her true desire to make a change. She had everybody convinced. They let her go over-night so she could gather her things and then come back for admission in to The Program

She immediately got on to a bus and went to her old Boyfriend, the one who she had told me time and time again was the worst mistake she had ever made. He got her drunk. The drank all night and most of the morning. Then Beth borrowed her boyfriend's truck and drunkenly swerved it all the way from Anacortes to Mount Vernon, with Police following her over half of the way with their lights on.

And now she's in Jail.

And I kinda hope she spends the rest of her life there.

I had a cousin busted for drug sales but it was quiet and he's on a work-release program and behaving himself. I'm not sure how the family would have taken it if he had gotten out of control...

Don't beat yourself up for that, man, she may be a lot safer there.

Ok now I have that degrees of Kevin Bacon thingy going on but with the Green River Killer. I also work with someone who the GRK was friends of the family. I know two separate people with ties to the GRK now.

THAT should be taken as some sort of sign or warning from Karma as to The Types of Folks You Associate With!

She actually went out with three different guys at the timne who were suspects... the CHIEF suspect (who it ended up not being) was a guest at Thanksgiving Dinner with us one year :)

Not too sound non compassionate to your sister's struggles...but the GRK and COPS stuff is fascinating. I don't know anyone who's, uh, guest-starred on that program. Though my neighbors are prime candidates.

As someone already said...she may be safer there...at least she'll get the help she needs whether she wants it or not. *hugs*

Well now you do! Sort of :)

And don't worry about compassion... it's a point of pride in my family! Sort of :)
