At the Food Bank that I go to, they have a little white box with pen and scrap-paper nearby that says "Prayer Request: If you would like to have our Church pray for something or someone you know, please leave your request and we will Pray for you" or something to that effect.
I wrote "Please Pray that Barak Obama is our next President of The United States, because my family can't take another 4 years of 'Republican Prosperity'".
This puts them in a dilly of a pickle of a jam, doesn't it? They can't pray for Onbama Success because of his stances on Birth Control and Abortion, but they can't deny the prayer request can they?
khristle thinks they'll cop-out and do a prayer for something like "Lord, please show the person who requested this prayer the light and the way... let them see the error of their ways and let them accept McCain in to their heart".
Me, I'm hoping for some exploding heads. Scanners-style!

Date: 2008-10-09 03:48 pm (UTC)Did you know that they recently changed the income guidelines for Food Stamps as well? Before October 1st, we were about $100 per month too rich for them. Now we're about $500 a month below the guideline!
Also, it's a great way to cut down on waste! 80% of what they give you there (fruit, veggies, dairy, breads) is going to end up rotted and spoiled before next week unless somebody takes it home and eats it/freezes it. This is all the exact same stuff that you're spending big money on every week so that the grocery stores can afford to throw it away!
Thanks to The Lynnwood Foodbank, we've been able to reduce our monthly grocery bill for a family of 3 from $400 down to $20. That's TWENTY BUCKS.
I think we're the exact opposite of your situation... on paper we look poor, but IRL we look almost "Well-to-do" because we're smart enough to use the programs that our tax dollars go in to. Once you get around to actually using all the social services we have in Washington State, you begin to see just what a great Governor Christine Gregoire is :)
Anywho, you should totally go some week! Any Wednesday between 2 and 6, schedule yourself to have several hours available to wait in line. I'm usually there from 3:45 till 5:30 or 6, but you'd be in line for a shorter period of time if you can get there earlier.
