It's a common misconception
Nov. 5th, 2008 02:48 pmI keep seeing/hearing stuff about how Obama will "Have to deliver" and he "Has a lot to prove" and "There's no way he can live up to the expectations that his followers have of him".
But that's not what it's all about. It's not about what HE has to do, it's about what WE, as a nation have to do now. And maybe that's The Big Difference?
Maybe the folks who were torn about who to vote for are of a mind that once they voted, their job was done? That they could just sit back and let Rainbows fly out of Obama's butt that would heal the sick and feed the children?
I voted for Obama becuase i want a participatory Government. I *personally* want to help each and every citizen. I want America to be what it once was; the "Superman" of countries! We can stand for Truth, Justice and The American Way!
Voting wasn't just a vote... it was a promise that you'll help make America great again!

Date: 2008-11-05 11:35 pm (UTC)When did everything need to be done at a huge scale? Why can't shit get accomplished at a personal level, like me & my worm composting saving the earth?
WHY DOES EVERY COOKING DINNER SHOW ASSUME YOU'RE MAKING DESSERT?!?!?!!??
Obamabashers should get over themselves & go scrub their toilets with baking soda & vinegar.

I say, let's lend him a hand...

Date: 2008-11-06 05:43 am (UTC)I open my GS meetings every week by reciting a promise. At the end of that promise it says "and make the world a better place." This is a promise I take to heart. Every week, I'm reminded that it's up to me, not anyone else, to do my part to make the world, not just my corner of it but the whole thing, better.
That being said, I helped a little by voting. We all did. And if we support our president, even if we didn't vote for him, then we continue to do our part. And if we follow the rules that we voted into play, we continue to do our part a little more.
If we can all step outside ourselves and quit asking what's in it for us, we can all "make the world a better place." But it takes effort. On everyones part, not just the guy in charge.
As with any leader, it's his job to come up with a plan and everyone elses job to do the work and follow through. It really does take all of us.
I'm rambling. I'm finished now :)
