Took me THREE HOURS to get in and out of The Food Bank tonight. I had been avoiding the place for the past month-and-a-half due in part to all sorts of wacky goings-on in our lives but also because I know they get a heavier load at The Holidays than usual. But this week we just didn't have any food left. I have *parts* of food, but nothing to make a complete meal with.

Ended up having to go shopping afterwards, anywho. Spent $50, but I am now positive that we can eat for the next 3 months without having to go shopping or to the food bank again. After that, I'll have to re-evaluate the situation... but it'll almost be MARCH by then! SPRINGTIME!!! Time for FRESH FRUITS AND VEGGIES!!!

Right?

But it's going to be a loooooong three months.

I'm taking winters worse and worse each year.

I can't imagine not going food shopping for three months. We have no storage for bulk items. I hate food shopping but when I send the DH by himself I feel guilty because as a couple that doesn't "go out much" it's like a date. Wow, I just realized how monumentally sad that is.

Looking forward to more of your creative Iron Chef recipes.

In March you can plant peas & potatoes... although it may be as much as another month after that before they're ready.

Would you like some more apples? I still have some left from that batch I picked in fall, and they're... oddly... not rotten. A little wrinkly, so you'd want to make cobbler/pie/crisp or something, but still edible.

No thank you... gots apples! We're good till February or march I'm sure of it. Except for cheese... I may have to invest another $12 in 5 more pounds of cheese before too long.
