Watchmen was good. Heck, it was INCREDIBLE. Much, MUCH more than anybody could ever hope to accomplish in trying to adapt that material. But...

It's...

It's like you've been wanting an XBox 360 forever. You've been playing with a friends system and you know exactly what games you want and everything, right? But you know you can't afford one, so you just give up. Then your birthday comes along and somebody buys you... a PlayStation 3.

All the games you wanted to play are there, just in this slightly different format. The controls are different. Some functionality isn't there, some features you were looking forward to aren't there, but there are other features that are really kick-ass. You're still playing the same games, just slightly... different.

And THAT is what i think of the Watchmen movie. it's... different. EXTREMELY DIFFERET, but still awesome none the less!

Just got back from seeing it on Imax in Oly - it's 2 freaking a.m.

I never want to see a film again if it's not on Imax. That was amazing.

I can't handle Imax - TOO BIG! Makes my head hurt.

But what did you think of the movie?

Do you have all the TPBs of Watchmen? I would love to catch up before going to the movie.

Yeah, I've got the collection here somewhere... you're welcome to it as soon as I cna find it. I suggest seeing the movie first, though, so you won't be too tainted by a reading of the material.

Watchmen wasn't a bad adaptation. And it was a lot more true to the original than most comic adaptations. Since the movie makers seem to be fixated on making movies of classic 80's, Brit-authored comics; why not remake Camelot 3000? It's oddly applicable to today's political/social climate. If nothing else, the publicity would be hysterically funny to watch.

I would LOVE to see Camelot 3000 on the big screen! Did you see that they recently released a huge hardback collection of the entire series? Looks AWESOME!

And you're right... the adaptation of Watchmen was every bit as good as any big-screen treatment of Moby Dick. As far as adaptions go, there's only so much you can do!

No, I hadn't seen the hardback collection. I've just got the tb, and somewhere in my storage unit; the original maxi series. The reaction of the far, religous right alone would make it worthwhile. 'What! A godly night was reincarnated as a WOMAN! and is in love with another woman! And Ronnie Raygun is STILL alive and in charge! Devils' work indeed!
