Bought my Mother a Webcam for Mothers Day (her sister has one, so they wish to video-chat). Installed the webcam, it works just fine, set it up on her Windows Live Messenger (the only messenger service she will use) and all seemed to be going well till the VERY END when it said "Hey, there's a new version of Windows Live Messenger available... would you like to upgrade?

Like a sucker, I upgraded :(

Cam still works just fine, but Windows Live Messenger REFUSES to acknowledge that the camera is connected to the computer now.

Windows XP, drivers are good, camera is good... any suggestions?

Uninstall the new version and MSN Messenger and reinstall the old one. That new one is a giant piece of crap. I accidentally installed it and it absolutely refused to work on our work network.
