Some of the N64 games we have just didn't want to work. Tony Hawk, Zelda, Micro machines, Superman... MOST of them didn't want to work.

Standard Nintendo Legend & Lore (tradition) is that you should just blow in to the cartridge to make them work again, but alas it did not work :(

However, licking the computer-chipy part of the cartridge? THAT has done the trick!

I was young and foolish! I did a lot of regrettable things! Thing's I'm not proud of. And it was $1.99 in the clearance bin when I bought it... not that this excuses my actions :(

Sounds like there is some minor corrosion on the cartridges or even in the N64. You can take them to Nintendo in Redmond and they can clean all of the games and the system for a reasonable fee. I did it a few years ago for my NES and it really made a difference.

Really? That's... weird? Like, that's the weirdest corporate servcice I've heard of in at least 4 days!

I imagine a guy sitting behind a counter, wearing an olde-timee Soda Jerk uniform complete with paper hat and bow-tie, just polishing his counter all day long waiting for folks to bring in their old cartridge-centric game systems for cleaning :)

...and he'd tell stories about how back in the day EVERYTHING was cartridge based and how disk based gaming systems are just not as good as cartridges...

"Load time? These cartridges ain't got no load time. Can step on 'em and they don't break either"

LOL

Oh my... it's... it's YOU! YOU'RE THE CRANKY OLD CARTRIDGE COUNTER GUY!!!

Seriously, I remember your rant about that the last time i was at your house ('98?)... Playstation had been out for a while and you were all about the Cartridges and how discs were a fad...

LOL

Yeah, it would have been around that time - I remember you brought over that crappy Fantastic Four movie bootleg, and the Peter Jackson zombie flick Brain Dead/Dead Alive :)

I don't recall thinking that disks were a fad so much, but more the fact that load times where so horrible back then. Now things are much faster on disk than back then

You know what I saw for 2$ today? All the 2009 Star Trek figures on clearance at walmart. At first I was YAY and I ran over and picked up two Sylar Spock... then I noted how incredibly crappy these figures were. I put him back, sadly.

Load times are better than Cassette games. You've been eaten by a Wumpus!

I heard they used to do that. I'm surprised they're still doing it!

I have been pleasantly suprised with the small Star trek figures, and found them to be a great bargain at $5 a pop. When they went on clearance for $2, I nearly exploded in happy! The only figure I dislike is the Kirk one, which looks nothing like the new OR the old Kirk. Oddly, though, the Young Pike figure? Looks more Kirkish.

Really, at $2 you should give 'em a try... they really are far more fun and durable than you'd ever imagine!

Are you insinuating that I had sex with my N64?!?!? 'Cuz if you ARE, let me just go on the record as saying that I DID NOT! And also, it's didn't hurt REALLY bad afterwards.
