Some of the N64 games we have just didn't want to work. Tony Hawk, Zelda, Micro machines, Superman... MOST of them didn't want to work.
Standard Nintendo Legend & Lore (tradition) is that you should just blow in to the cartridge to make them work again, but alas it did not work :(
However, licking the computer-chipy part of the cartridge? THAT has done the trick!

I don't recall thinking that disks were a fad so much, but more the fact that load times where so horrible back then. Now things are much faster on disk than back then
