Those of you who knew me Back In The Day may remember that I had developed a pretty distinct "Look" for myself - knee-length Cargo shorty-pants, giant Hawaiian shirt, tube socks, tennis shoes.

EVERY. FLIPPIN'. DAY.

It was comfortable, it was how I wanted to look, it was a distinctive uniform that let people know I was there (I heard bigwigs at Comcast give directions based on my location - "Go about three cubes past The Banana-Shirt Guy").

But in the past few years or so, I've changed. Blame the phenomenal weight loss and the fact that I can buy clothes at main-stream discount chains like WalMart and Target.

My *new* uniform is a Geek Shirt, blue jeans, black leather belt with a big shiny silver buckle, tube socks, High-Top sneakers and a zip-up Hoodie.

Just like the Hawaiian shirts of yesteryear, I now wear these outfit EVERY FLIPPIN' DAY. And I kinda like it :)

How much weight did you lose (if you don't mind my asking), and how did you do it? My husband and I are both working on getting re-motivated to lose weight. I want to lose about 35lbs, but my husband has over 100lbs to go.

Way to go with having a new "uniform"! :)

Thanks! I initially lost 50lbs on Atkins, but when I met my wife we both gained A LOT of weight back... over twice as much as I had lost! Then, two years ago we both got the Lap Band surgery. Unlike the Gastric Bypass, it's an in-patient procedure that has you back to a semi-normal life in a day or two and is completely reversible if anything goes wrong. The greatest thing about it is that I *can* eat whatever I want, I just end up eatung very little of it. You know those ridiculous "Serving Size" suggestions on the side of a package that tell you to eat just two Fig Newtons or 1/6th of a 99-cent Totino's Party Pizza? THE SUGGESTED SERVING SIZE IS NOW THE PERFECT AMOUNT TO MAKE ME FULL!

Started at 427lbs on March 18 2008, and I am now down to 316lbs and still losing an average of 2lbs a week. It's AWESOME!

The thing I remember most about you 'back in the day' was the Kirby art Marvel jean jacket you always had on. That was how we began our friendship...ah, memories *sniff*

I'd wear Hawaiian shirts every day if I owned more than three.

Hey, does that mean you can start a "Giant Obnoxious Belt Buckle" collection?

Ooooooooooh! I'll have to consider that! My brother wants to make Lucite belt buckles that have Mistletoe in them, for The Holidays, because my brother is PURE CLASS.
