Freakachu Sales
Feb. 23rd, 2011 01:59 pmKanani & Freak are going to be attemtpting to sell some of my stuff (and the stuff of others) at an indoor swap meet in Lynnwood starting this weekend. This is great since (1) I don't have the time to do this myself and (2) Freak assures me that he can get better prices for my stuff than I can.
(My Sales Technique for Swap Meets had always been to try and find a good home for my treasures while also trying to get as much stuff out of our storage unit as possible, leading to many 25-to-50-cent sales for stuff I knew was worth much more than that).
Unfortunately for Freak, he loves too much of my stuff and will most likely end up in debt to me for the rest of forever while trying to pay for all the stuff he's been stricken by as we unload my stuff. In an attempt to keep on top of this, I've decided to keep a list of the stuff I *know* he's set aside for himself and the prices I am asking for said items. We can update this as needed.
In exchange, I have been offered an obsolete V-Smile Game System that may or may not work (still waiting for a power cable to confirm or deny functionality) with no games, and a Mickey Mouse Match Game that looks like it came in a box of cereal. Assuming that the V-Smile Game System works, I'm willing to trade it (and the Mickey Match Game) for the Space Warp and the Iron Chef Board Game, mainly because the Iron Chef Board Game *really* needs to belong to Kanani :)
Part of the reason I'm typing this out now is because I *know* that once I'm with Freak and just talking and having a good time, I'll be convinced to just let him have the stuff and I don't want to DO that! This is my stuff, I've been holding on to it forever, I've been waiting for the proper time and place to sell it, and I'll be darned if I'm not going to get something out of it!
So the arrangement thus far (as I understand it) is that they will pay for the business license, the storage of stuff to sell and they will do the actual selling of stuff. I will pay half of the cost of the "Space Rental" fee each week out of our profits from my stuff (the profits from their stuff is separate and completely theirs). They will receive 50% of whatever they can sell my stuff for, with certain minimums to be set by me on certain items.
We'll try it at this level for at least a week or two, then I might have to renegotiate since there are other people at the same swap meet who have offered to sell my stuff for me at anywhere from 30% to 40% with a per-item up-front fee.
I would appreciate an in-writing (or in-comment) confirmation or denial of this arrangement from Freak or Kanani... in-person or over-the-phone verbal confirmation just doesn't do it for me because it only takes a few days for everybdoy to have heard an entirely different conversation :)
