This week Weird Al released his latest masterpiece album, "Alpocalypse". I have an absolute LOVE for Weird Al that goes all the way back to my 13th birthday when I asked my sister to get me one of two different records as a gift; Aha "Scoundrel Days" (featuring the song "Take On Me") or Weird Al Yankovic's "In 3-D" (featuring "Eat It"). I've spent WAY too much time wondering how my life would have turned out had my first record been Aha instead of Weird Al... the path not taken...

So of course I have the album in hand and I'm loving it and all even though I'm old enough now that I don't recognize ANY of the songs being parodied on this album, and I thought "Thank goodnes this is the day and age of The Internet where you can go and hear pretty much any song you want at any time!

So as a public service to all of us old coots who haven't listened to any new pop music since around 1998, here's a track-by-track listening guide for the entire album. These are the songs you should have at least heard *once* so you'll "get it". If you can't figure out how to get the videos to play, ask your kid to show you. They know how these computery-things work.

TRACK 1: "Perform This Way" - Parody of Lady Gaga's "Born This Way".

TRACK 2: "CNR" - Original song in the style of The White Stripes

TRACK 3: "TMZ" - Parody of Taylor Swift's "You Belong With Me"

TRACK 4: "Skipper Dan" - Original song tribute to Disneyland Jungle Cruise captains.

TRACK 5: "Polka Face" - A medley of pop songs done in a polka style which will have it's own post linked to this one later, contained the hook from 14 different songs you've never heard of if you're over 34. And if you're over 34 and you HAVE heard of these songs? STOP IT. Everybody in the club KNOWS you're old and creepy.

TRACK 6: "Craigslist" - Original song in the style of Jim Morrison and The Doors.

TRACK 7: "Party In The CIA" - Parody of "Party In The USA" by Miley Cirus

TRACK 8: "Ringtone" - Original song, no parody or style I've been able to determine but it's catchy :)

TRACK 9: "Another Tattoo" - Parody of "Nothin' On You" by B.o.B featuring Bruno Mars

TRACK 10: "If That Isn't Love" - Original song, no particular style I've been able to determine but it's yet another classy Weird Al love song :)

TRACK 11: "Whatever You Like" - Parody of "Whatever You Like" by T.I.

TRACK 12: "Stop Forwarding That Crap To Me" - Original song, a real nice lighter-holder-upper for concerts :)

...And there we go! Now I'll get going on that Polka Medley post so I can link it here and we'll all be hipping and hoppiting with the jim-jam whatsis and our pants down around our butts like the damn kids these days!
