Okay, so here's the problem as I see it and I'd like to know if you agree or not.
Wonder Woman is a supporting character that everyone likes the *idea* of, but nobody actually likes (as indicated by comic book sales that over the years even at the height of popularity can be described as "Mediocre"). he's what I like to call a "Quarter Hero", because no matter what you do to the character to make it better, you're only going to please maybe 1/4 of the "Fans".
And by "Fans", I don't mean "Readers" or even "Followers". We're talking about these people who complain whenever Wonder Woman gets cancelled even though they've never bought an issue of Wonder Woman in their entire life. The folks who saw a few episodes of Super Friends while growing up. The people who remember Linda Carter in the costume but don't remember an actual episode of the 1970's Wonder Woman TV show.
Wonder Woman's fan base is 3/4 made up by these people. People who don't spend money on Wonder Woman stuff, so they are dead to DC/AOL/Time/Warner.
This makes for a fan base that's a lot like my wife and I trying to decide on where to go out for dinner; we don't know what we DO want, but we certainly know where we DON'T want to eat. We say stuff like "I don't care I'm just so hungry I'll eat ANYWHERE" and so when one of us suggests a place the other says "Noooooo, not that... I'm not in the mood for that" or "You know I hate their soup there!" or any of a billion other perfectly reasonable reasons to not want what is being offered.
So the fine folks at DC are stuck with a BIG problem; they have the worlds most recognizable female super hero that they can't do anything with because nobody actually likes her, and every time they try to make any kind of a change or update to make her more likeable the 1/4 all moan and groan and complain about how it's SO WRONG.
I personally think they got it right in those clips. Wonder Woman killed Max Lord in the comics, we know she's prepared to use lethal force, and she comes from a society where these non-women are less than human. She has about as much regard for men as she does for farm animals.
