Weight Watchers totaly failed for me. The first week, I lost 8 lbs. Second week, I lost nothing. Third week, I gained 6 pounds. 4th week, I gave up and went back to Atkins. But wasn't just the lack of weight loss that bothered me, it was the effect on *who I am* that bothered me the most. it turned me back in to the person I used to be... the person I hated!
First off, constant noxious gas. Not just occasionally, but CONSTANTLY. Ask DotGirl if you don't believe it... our apartment always smelled like the inside of a bag of dry-roasted peanuts! Secondly, I was constantly depressed. Depressed in ways that I haven't been depressed for nearly 3 years now! Debilitating, mind-numbing, listening-to-Depeche-Mode-and-wearing-nothing-but-black DEPRESSION. I don't like that. Not at all.
I'm on day 4 of being back on Atkins, and all ready the depression and gas are gone! Plus, I'm feeling healthier in general. I've tried a lot of diets, and this is the only one that actually makes me feel good :)
Ahhhh, Atkins... How I've missed you so! Bags of Pork Rinds, steaks, pork chops, cheddar cheese, ribs, and sausages! This morning I had 10 ounces of pork sausage, fried up in one big pattie and smothered with cheddar cheese. Life is good :)

Date: 2003-04-15 10:08 am (UTC)heh the best weight program i've ever had was not having a weight program at all, just eating what i felt my body needed. and not eating too much candy, just replacing a lot of that sought after candy and dessert (hehe) with some yummy exotic fruit instead. i went from app. 230 to 170lbs in something like 6 months and felt a shitload better than i did when i was constantly like "oh oh gotta watch what i eat, oh no this is bad blahblahblah"
now i'm just like "oh, i ate a lot of really fatty food today, i'll cut down on it tomorrow and eat more fruit, rice and potatoes. oh, and i think i need more protein, so i'm going to eat a nice, big, juicy, bloody red steak and lots of beans. yum. and now i'm going to lift some weights."
hehe.

Date: 2003-04-15 10:33 am (UTC)Atkins has worked wonders for me in the past. I lost nearly 200 lbs. in 2 years, then went off for about year and gained back about 80. So now I'm back on!
