captain_slinky | How far is too far?

Been seeing lots of friends post pictures of their kids getting all dressed-up for Homecoming... they all look so grown-up! How did they all get so adult so fast???

Too fast.

It won't be TOO long till Molly is the one in those pictures, looking like some semi-familliar stranger that reminds me of my little girl. They grow up so fast, and pretty soon Molly won't be so concerned about playing Got-Your-Nose with Daddy any more. Eventually she'll move on to her own life, her own family, her own excuses for why she can't come visit this weekend.

But I have a plan to make my time with her last just a *little bit longer*.

When she comes down those stairs in her fancy dress, when that awkward teenage boy in an ill-fitting rented tux stops trying to make small talk with me and instead stops to notice just how beautiful my daughter is as she comes down those stairs, I will lean in close and whisper in his ear (with a smile):

"I used to wipe her butt."

And then back to regular speaking volume "Well hey kids don't let us keep you, you've got a long night ahead of you don't do anything I wouldn't do ha ha have a great time!!!"
