It has been pointed out to me here on LJ and elsewhere that Julie Andrews DID NOT provide the voice of the Fairy Godmother in any of the Shrek movies; she did the voice for Fionna's mother, The Queen.
TWO THINGS IN MY DEFENSE: The image that I grabbed from The Internet was described as "Julie Andrews Fairy Godmother Character From Shrek", and c'mon... a fight between Mary Poppins and The Queen Who Maried The Frog Prince would have been QUITE boring.
The battle shall remain as posted :)

Date: 2012-05-02 03:00 am (UTC)The fight was actually between Mary Poppins and the Queen. However, the Fairy Godmother had cast a spell on the queen giving her the appearance (but not the voice) of the Kingdom's premier potion maker.
The Godmother has hated Mary Poppins since they were children and she saw the practically perfect one through her scrying glass getting all the benefits of a proper British debutante while she scrubbed floors in her Uncle Larry's potion shop on the wrong side of the yellow brick freeway. When Mary Poppins arrived, having been warned that FGM was becoming a threat to all reality, FGM cast the charm and threw her other hated rival, the Queen into the line of fire. If only the queen hadn't interfered in that whole frog business! The Queen under magical disguise was unable to defend herself as the FGM might have been able to and quickly succumbed to Poppin's power.
Had the queen spoken, letting Poppins hear her own voice echoed back she could have saved herself but Poppins was late for a tea party on the ceiling and had to rush back before finding out the truth.
