Somebody should make a comic book (or preferably a cartoon) featuring Apache Chief, Black Vulcan, El Dorado and Super Samurai - all the "Made For TV" affirmative action heroes from the old Super Friends cartoon - and have them form their own super-team. I'd write it so that every week they start out looking for work and taking something that's a minimum-wage rock-bottom type of a job like Mall Security, Convenience Store Clerks, Car Wash/Gas Station Attendants, etc and accidentally uncovering the roots of some MAJOR super-villain plot. Every episode ends with them getting "The Key To The City" and the mayor calling them by the wrong names ("Super Indian", "Black Lightning", "Mexi-Man" and "Tornado Samurai" for example) and then they thenk the Mayor and ask about possible employment or maybe a reward, but the Mayor is already giving another Key To The City to somebody else so their request goes unheard, leaving us open for the next episode where they are once again unemployed and taking a crap job.

Dang, I think I need to get ON this!

Technically, DC already has a 'Black Lightning'. But you are right about the rest. At least the comic books have and cartoons progressed slightly.

But your vision sounds pretty good. Just don't have them doing drugs or selling themselves on street corners. At least not until you've done at least 12 issues. Then it can be done as an 'Annual'.

I don't think it would be realistic to have them turning to drugs or prostitution... after all, they're Super Friends from the friendliest era of super hero history! There might be one episode where they decide to become "Escorts" thinking that it's just providing companionship but then getting a horrible shock when their customers want "more". No, it'll all be standard lower-class struggle jobs that just happen to help them uncover major villainous plots :)

Also, Black Vulcan and Black Lightning are two different characters - Black Lightning controls electricity in much the same way that the SPider-Man foe Electro does, but Black Vulcan coulod turn parts of and/or his entire body IN TO electricity, allowing him to travl through electrical wires and currents in the same way that the hero "Airwave" did through radio waves :)

This could also make a good recurring SNL skit.
