Whenever I get in these "Moods" of mine, two things NEVER FAIL to bring me out of it and back to reality... eventually.

First, I write about it. Write, write, write. Getting it out of my head and onto a screen in front of me, where I can hit the "Submit" button and release it for all 7 of my loyal readers... it frees me of the thought. It makes room for new thoughts, while also exercising my Creative Muscles. Good stuff. I'm already 79% better off than I was when I made my big depression post yesterday ;)

Second, I make a list of alllllll the changes I think I should make in order to shake myself out of my mood, and I ignore it for at least a MONTH. If I still feel the same about it in a month, THEN I'll do something about it. Trust me, there's a reason for me doing it this way!

Once upon a time, some... fifteen years ago? Yeah, that sounds about right. Fifteen years ago I made a string of poor decisions that were based in Depression. I got rid of my large collections of vintage Transformers and Muppets stuff, I bought a Satellite Dish, I skipped Christmas, I flew to New York to meet a girl... all terrible decisions. It was the skipping of Christmas that was the last straw for me, though... it was then that I decided, hey, when you've got this feeling? This depressed, "I need to change something" feeling? SIT ON IT. Make a list. Wait 30 days. If it still seems like a great idea, go for it.

Now I still get rid of stuff and make changes, but there's a definitive Waiting Period that works out pretty well.

It saved my comic book collection more than once!

This time around, Depression is telling me to get rid of all my board games, Magic: The Gathering cards, DVD's and collectable glasses. So brace yourselves, because come end of April I just might be having a real doozy of a garage sale!

Probably not, though ;)
