Friday was PAYDAY! Comic book and DVd day! YAY!!!

Got the complete first seasons of Happy Days and Laverne & Shirley. I've only cracked in to the Happy Days set so far, and at first I was pretty dissapointed. No commentaries, no documentaries, no deleted sceenes, not even an animated menu! Just the episodes of the show, in order of broadcast. I had expected to AT LEAST see the original episode of "Love American Style" that served as the pilot episode, but NO! Not even a slick little booklet extoling the virtues of Happy Days!

So yeah, I was ready to be highly dissapointed. But there's something really incredible about these shows; they're completely uncut, with all the original music and INCREDIBLE picture quality! Little parts of each episdoe that had been edited out during syndication (to make more room for commercials) have been restored and look beautiful, b=giving almost a whole new feeling to each episode! And the great 50's music, all in-tact! That must have cost a pretty penny all by itself! I know that a big part of why lots of shows haven't hit DVD yet is because all the music rights are bogging them down, so imagine a show where licensed rock-n-roll classics are a constant background character!

All in all, I am very happy with my purchases today. ECSTATICALLY happy, I might even go so far as to say!

OMG! That sounds delightfully fun! i used to watch the 3AM reruns when my older son woke me up to nurse (when he was a baby). And, of course, we watched them when they came out, too. :) i'd totally forgotten about Love American Style until you posted it here.... i just LOVED that series.

Have fun. i'm jealous.
