D&D Night Round-Up
Feb. 8th, 2009 09:29 amFriday night was a SUCCESS! Kinda! We didn't get in to the Planned Adventure Proper, but we did have a little mini-adventure that allowed all of us to kind of get in to the flow of combat. And despite a few grievous errors on my part as a DM that may have resulted in the untimely demise of the party (NO ONE SURVIVED), I now know what I did wrong and was able to make corrections that allowed me to successfully run another mini-adventure the next night for one of my nieces and my darling
khristle.
So the things we all need to take away from that gaming session?
Other than that, I loved the game and thank you all so much for having come! Also, thank you for not mentioning just how disgustingly filthy our kitchen was; I just didn't have time to clean it :(

So the things we all need to take away from that gaming session?
- KNOW THY CHARACTER. Know who thios character is, where they come from, what they can do and why/how they would do it. Know how and when to use all your daily, encounter and at-will powers. Know your weapons and your armor.
- MAKE SURE THAT THE DM KNOWS THY CHARACTER. I need to remember to take your character sheet from you before the game and make notes. Also, I need to ask you any questions that I have about your character up-front instead of waiting till it comes up in combat and we have to pause the game so we can all discuss it for 20 minutes.
- GET MORE DICE. I really, really need to invest in some more dice, or locate the rest of my dice here in the house.
- STICK TO ONE SOURCE. The information on the D&D Minis Cards can sometimes be WILDLY different than the information found in the Players Hand Book and/or Monster Manual. The cards made things nice and convenient, but they just don't have all the necessary information for a full-fledged game.
- REMEMBER GAME MECHANICS. One major and two minors. Healing Surge. Bloodied. Combat Advantage. These are things I NEED to think of and remember at all times.
Other than that, I loved the game and thank you all so much for having come! Also, thank you for not mentioning just how disgustingly filthy our kitchen was; I just didn't have time to clean it :(
