The Marvel Comics Universe is the most realistic interpretation of if The Real World were to suddenly get Super Heroes *right now* and then we were to discover that they had been here all along we just didn't know it.

The DC Comics Universe is the most realistic interpretation of if The Real World were to have had Super Heroes ever since the 1930's and the world has adapted to a view of accepting/dealing with the fact that we now have Super Heroes.

Yeah yeah... I know... I have far too many ideas and not nearly enough time to do them all :(

But this one was inspired by a friend who is trying to build up his portfolio by creating one of those generic Nerd-Centric websites that's just a selection of bloggers all blogging on generally nerdy things, then maybe have a podcast involved as well (he's an ARTIST, not a Content Generator). As he was asking me for ideas and asking if I would make a few blog entries for his site, I came up with this idea...

TOP 3 PODCAST

A small group of friends debate and define the Top Three items of several subjects per week as suggested by the listeners.

The Podcast Guests (two "Hosts", one "Regular" and at least one "Special Guest Star") would be given their subjects a week in advance so they could prepare their own personal Top 3 List as well as prepare arguments for defending those choices and persuading the other members of the group to see the wisdom of their choices.

Subjects would include everything from Standard Geek Questions ("Top 3 Super-Powers", "Top 3 Star Wars Characters", "Top 3 Episodes of Star Trek", etc) to General Clarification ("Top 3 Disney Princesses", "Top 3 Cancelled TV Shows") to Objectively Random ("Top 3 Numbers", "Top 3 Colors Of The Rainbow", "Top 3 Best Christmas Presents of 1987").

If I end up doing this on my own, I think my first episode would involve me, my wife, and then one or more of my nieces.

Because I promise you that I'll ALWAYS run this stuff by you guys first :)

1951 Children's Book "You And Space Travel" -$5 at Etsy.com

This book has some of the most incredibly awesome retro "Atom Age" illustrations I've ever seen... this is the style and design that DEFINE "Retro" in my mind :)

1961 "Let's Go To A Rocket Base" -$5 at Etsy.com

Beautifully paranoid, this book starts out with something along the lines of "Of course you would never try to go to a Rocket Base because if you did we'd have to assume you're a Commie and shoot you on principle, but if you ever *did* get to go to a Rocket Base here's what it would be like" and then these two kids go on a kind of surreal. disembodied dream-trip to a Rocket Base where they get all sorts of information that Kuschev would kill for :)

1968 "Astronautics" - $5 on Etsy

This is a great "Space Race" book full of what was in 1968 all the latest technical speculation of launching an American in to Outer Space. Great 1960's pictures of space :)

I have other stuff listed as well, lots of science engineering books... but these are the ones I wanted to share right now :)
