Dinner

Dinner last night was a 4-point can of soup and a 10-point sandwich. The sandwich was indeed satisfying, even if it did only have 3/4 of an ounce of cheese on it. What it lacked in cheese I made up for in Turkey Breast and Lettuce! And as for the soup...

I'm not a big fan of vegetable soup, even if they do put chunks of meat in it. But at least it was filling! And I ended up going to bed with three points to spare!

Breakfast today is going to be another 8-point Ham-n-cheese omlette and 2-points worth of Oatmeal.

Lunch will once again be a stack of fruit. Apples and Oranges all the way! 1 point each and they're good for me!

Dinner will hopefully be a nice big Chef Salad. 2 points of ham, 2 points of chicken breast, 2 points of cheese, and maybe up to 4 points of salad dressing. Then a TON of free veggies! Leaf lettuce, spinach, cucumber, red onion... not sure what else to add, not sure if I want to foul it up.

Desert tonight just might include 2 points worth of Light Yogurt, even though I have always hated Yogurt with an intense passion. Tastes kinda like sucking on a nasty boil, ya know? But if the Yogurt can help diversify my desert options, then I'll give it a try!

Yoplait makes some pretty good Light flavours, including Apple Turnover and Key Lime.

So, are we on for Sunday?

Oh, we are SO ON! Do you have a prefference of which Central Market we go to (Central Market being Chris' suggestion for some shopping)? We have a nice bright shiney new one in Mill Creek, but understand if the more centrally located North Seattle location is to your preference!

Sure, let's head up and go to the one in Mill Creek! We can also shop @ a regular store if they don't have the more standard things on the list. Also, we can go to TJ's if y'all want. They have some good stuff for WW.

Also! For salads, try zucchini, yellow squash, and mushrooms. Also green/red peppers, although we leave those out.

Hey! I could do peppers!

But zucchini and other squashes? I'm skeptical...

Not much different from cucumber - just some plain old not-very-flavorful random bulk in the salad.

i have always hated yogurt and actually gotten into it lately, there are a bunch of fat free chocolate flavors, chocolate mouse, choco raspberry, etc,. strawberry banana is pretty good, the gogurts are pretty good, but the best of all is the tillamook yogurts! The vanilla and french vanilla bean is like ice cream! Freeze it and you can't tell the difference! Soooooo goood! Mmmm... Around holidays you also get pumpkin pie and such too...

Where do you find the Tillamook brand yogurt? I haven't seen that out there...

Hey, question - what are you using as your daily points target? Because according to my chart, you get 34 points per day, which, to be honest, is a *lot*. Also, you get a weekly allotment of 35 points (since you can't carry points over anymore).

Let's discuss more on Sunday!

I've been going with 30 points per day, which I know is a bit low for me. But between yesterday and today I'm having trouble eating even THAT MANY points! Going for volume over quality has really helped :)

I can hardly wait to find out on Sunday that in the NEW version, Oranges and Apples are 8 points each and the sliding scale I used for Oatmeal has been modified so that one serving has more points than a Big Mac.

Honestly, I think the points work the same way - I found the formula for various versions in the patents filed by WW, and in all cases the points for *food* were the same. The scheme of how many points people got and how they could be used ("rollover" or not, weekly amount or not, a target range for each day & the week, etc.) changed. I have a spreadsheet that calculates it, but the basic thing is:

1 point for each 50 calories +
1 point for each 12 grams of fat +
-.2 points for each gram of fiber UP TO 4 GRAMS

So you can do them in your head from the nutrition facts.

Fiber is cool, because it reduces the points, but only so much. So the gotcha is that a food that is 1 points for 1 serving may be 3 points for 2 servings. That's the only real caveat. Apples are like that - they'd be like 1.75 points, but fiber takes them down to 1. But if you have 1, you can only subtract the first .8 points for fiber, so 2 apples is 2.75, 3 is 4.5, etc. Their "rule" is that if you eat 2 servings together or within a short time, you have to count them together rather than add up points. If you have 1 in the morning and 1 in the evening, you count them separately.

Their website (if you have Heidi's login) shows this - use their calculator for 1, 2, 3, 10, and 100 apples.

I have a spreadsheet with the silly points calculator, plus various tabs of things like points in Cambell's chunky/select soups, Subway sammiches, etc.: http://thesethings.com/WWpoints.xls

Cool, thanks!

Yeah, i discovered the folly of thinking 1 and 0-point items remained that way regardless of how many servings you had. Found some Ham that was zero points per serving (2 paper-thin slices , but felt quite bloated after the 7th package.
