Beta version of Comic Collector Live is now availale for download, and my experience so far is that it looks pretty damned spiffy!

Works like many other comicbook collector software programs out there, only this one is *free* and promises to become a comicbook-centric version of Ebay, allowing you to post your comics for sale to what should be your target audience in exchange for an "Insertion Fee". That can all be looked at later though... my big concern is that it's a simple click-n-point interface that allows you to accurately catalogue your collection for FREE. Don't want to sell? Then don't sell and there won't be a charge.

I was concerned when I first saw their site. I was handed a card at the NY Con and had no idea what it was for. Then I saw the "get paid when your friends buy" and rolled my eyes figuring it was yet another trick for people to get suckered.

Jury is still out on the whole "suckered" thing, but so far the software seems to work nice! Of course that'll all change the first time they try to make me pay to use it.

I noticed it doesn't say anywhere on their site what the 'minor insertion fee' is, or the 'sales fee'. I figure though if it lets me keep track of my collection, I could always sell it on my own through other venues.

yeah! it looks like they will even suggest the going rate or best rate for your comics, and make it easier to key all of them in, so that will be cool. :)

Of course the suggested rate thing is still MILES down the road (they need a few months of data before theyc an do that), but yeah! And best of all youc an sell at your leisure!
