This is a commercial that is currently airing in the Portland, Oregon area. Ladies and gentlemen, I give you... The Credit Bandito.
I figure the planning stage of this commercial went a little something like this:
I figure the planning stage of this commercial went a little something like this:
SETTING: The "World Of Wheels" Headquarters, conveniently located in a single-wide 1970's-style trailer sitting at the back of a Used Car Lot. The exterior is a comination of peeling "Goldenrod" vinyl siding and patches of dirty, aged plywood. The interior smells of wet dogs, cheap cigar smoke, Microwave Burritos and broken dreams. Seated around a pressboard laminate desk are three largish white men in sweaty short-sleeved off-white button-up shirts from K-Mart (3 for $10), polyester stretch Docker-style pants and stained clip-on ties. Their names are unimportant, but if you need to know they are all hyphenated combinations of smaller, easier-to-rememer names such as "Billy-Ray", "Tommy-Joe" and/or "Bobby-Mac". One of them speaks:
"All right, fellows, so we've got it narrowed down to just a few hillarious character ideas for our Commercial! We've got (heh heh) 'The Creidt Bandito'... Messikans are funny heh heh heh... then there's 'Charlie-the-Credit-Gone-Wrong-Viet-Cong', which I'm no fan of 'cuz mah Daddy got shot in Vit-Naaaam... and fnally we've got 'Blackie Blackerson The Tap-Dancing, Watermellon-Eating Credit Negro. Now even though I would LOVE to put shoe polish all ove my face and do a silly tap-dance while eatign Watermellon (heh heh heh), I REALLY think we should stick to the original artistic vision and go with The Credit Bandito. Besides... you all KNOW how spot-on mah Messikan impression is!"
