Hey Internet! Is there a website wher eyouc an see how many different Home video Releases any movie has had? You know, like there was the Release, The Collectors Edition, The Restored Edition, the Director's Cut. The Criterion Series Release, the Gold Edition, The Platinum Edition, etc...

'Cuz I think that if we're talking about pure number of releases (Video and DVD combined)? "The Wizard of Oz" and "Army of Darkness" are probably neck-and-neck for first place. I just need a way to *confirm* that...

oh, and I count 21 and 13 respectively, since some of those are the same item repackaged with a new upc

Same item with new UPC, I think that'll count as a new release in my opinion. Thanks!

Now... any way to se if any movies have been released MORE than these two?

Looks like Terminator 2 is the closest competitor with Wizard of Oz... *fascinating*!

Se, THIS is what The Internet is all about! Obscure, useless information that we can elevate to a status of importance that it really doesn't deserve! Thank you so much for your help!

I'd bet on Terminator 2 having more editions. But I haven't looked yet. :)

...Wizard of Oz STILL beats it, though, with an official 33 releases (thank goodness for Judy Garland Retrospective DVD Collections!)

Release it again, Sam.

Based on how I think you're counting, Casablanca has 40 (http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0034583/sales). What pulls it through are the combo packs: Humphrey Bogart Collection: The Big Sleep, Casablanca, and Key Largo and the like.

I tried to find more - I figured there had to be half a bazillion Holiday Classics releases of It's a Wonderful Life, but comes up with a mere 26. Other classics didn't pan out either: Gone with the Wind had only 26 and Lawrence of Arabia 27. Citizen Kane had only 19, and Ben Hur had 25.

Apparently, sex defeats religion. Religious fervor - in either direction - didn't help The Ten Commandments (14), The Last Temptation of Christ (8), or The Pope Must Die (2) overtake Basic Instinct (25). Maybe The Da Vinci Code will gain some ground over the years - it's at 14 now (all DVDs).

This is fun! Which others have you found?

WOW! Okay, let's see... Terminator 2 came in with a respectable 30 releases... that was pretty good...

And The Matrix came in at 34 (why... WHY?!?!?!)

Even Citizen Kane came in at under 20 releases!
Wait a minute... THE PUBLIC DOMAIN WINS THE DAY! The original Night Of The Living Dead comes in with 42 releases, and that doesn't even count the two releases that *I* own of it (One from the Dollar Store, the other as part of a "Chillers Classic 10-Pack")!

So until another challenger can come forward, I crown George Romero's Night of The Living Dead the KING of Released Movies!
