Truth, Justice and the AMERICAN way...

Thanks to Dan Bekker, I have been able to put my finger upon one of the many elusive reasons why I prefer DC Comics (Superman, Batman, Wonder Woman etc) over Marvel Comics (Spider-Man, X-Men, Iron Man etc).
DC Comics have real-world politics.
In Marvel Comics, the only Conservatives they have are all *eeeeeeevil*, or at the very least plotting against the super heroes. If a conservative viewpoint comes up in the Marvel Universe, it's because somebody wants to register Mutants or outlaw Super Powers or disband the Avengers or maybe just take over the world. And if a HERO starts talking conservatively, it's because he's about to turn Evil.
But over in the DCU, you've got PLENTY of conservative heroes! Hawkman, Captain Atom, Captain Marvel, and at least half of the Green Lanterns what hail from Space Sector 2814 (Earth) are conservative and will fight against other heroes over what they feel is right. And when Lex Luthor was elected President? It was as a very LIBERAL President with tons of Government programs and assistance that made the public love him. Isn't that awesome and kinda wrong at the same time? I love it!

Date: 2009-10-13 04:59 pm (UTC)Captain America: Quit when we discovered corruption in the White House of the 80's, refused to register his identity during the Civil War event... he's a *Patriot*, not conservative.
US Agent: Has flipped back-and forth between Anti-Hero and Villain more times than I can remember. He's a prime example of my "If they're Conservative it's because they're about to go evil" rule.
Reed Richards: Flagrant disregard for Government rules and regulations dating all the way back to stealing that experimental rocket! He's more of a Libertarian or even an Anarchist than a conservative.
Frank Castle: Criminal serial killer who only kills bad guys. Sure, the same could be said abut the Governor of Texas... but The Governor has The Law on his side! Frank is a violent anti-hero extremist who hasn't shown any real CONSERVATIVE traits other than a strong support f the right to bear arms.

Date: 2009-10-13 11:34 pm (UTC)Steve Rogers let the government experiment on him without complaint; because he believed that the government had the right to demand it of him.
USAgent has consistently supported the governments' right to incarcerate people withou trial or due process.
Reed Richards....let's see...he's a classic example of the Conservative belief that the Government rules and regulations apply to everyone but him. He wasn't stealing the rocket...he was just anticipating his grant approval. The scientific progress would benefit the government after all.
If McCain could have declared Frank Castle his running mate instead of Sarah Palin, we would have a Republican in the White House right now. It's not whether you are right or wrong..... It's all in how, and WHO you chose as your targets.

Your qualifications for them being Conservative characters are all quite sinister, vain, self-centered and otherwise villainous! Proving my original statement! WOO!!!
