OH MY LORD!!!
Jul. 19th, 2006 06:47 pmJust had an elderly female customer call up and YELL at me because we put the instructions for our Self Install Kit in both English and Spanish, because aparently it is widely known that only illegal imigrants speak Spanish. Then she demanded to know WHY we would sell our products to illegal imigrants (who should all be shot on sight, btw), then proceeded to tell me that Comcast is gonna be in BIG TROUBLE for this. She also informed me that us selling our product to all these illegals was somehow equal to the waste produced by a male bovine, and the told me that several times. Then she said she's going to sue Comcast for this and we won't get away with it, not in George Bush's America!
Then she hung up.
Now what *I* want to know is this; HOW did she make it THIS FAR in life without having seen a multi-lingual set of instructions for anything? Heck, even your MILK CARTON says "Open - Abierto" on it!
Then she hung up.

DIscombobulated?
Jul. 19th, 2006 07:50 pmI'm not sure why it is... maybe it's because it was my third abusive caller in a row... but for some reason I'm just really shaken and disturbed by the caller who just hung-up on me.
She's having trouble with Microsoft Outlook, a program that we don't support. And I started out by telling her very nicely that we don't do support for that particular program and offered to help her with any of the other alternatives that we offer, but she yelled "BULLSHIT!" and then told me that I was going to fix this for her. No "Or else" to it, just that I WAS going to help her.
I tried to refer her to websites about Outlook, she declined. I tried to refer her to Microsoft, she declined. She doesn't like to talk to Microsoft, she wants to talk to COMCAST.
She made me troubleshoot her Outlook as though it were Outlook Express, then got angry and abusive towards me every time I couldn't answer her questions about why it was different or why she didn't see what I was talking about. ANd every time I tried to tell her that Outlook is designed differently than Outlook Express she would start swearing again.
And for some reason, I just COULDN'T HANG UP ON HER. I have no idea why. Like I said, maybe it was because it was my third "screamer" call in a row and I was determined to not let another customer go away being angry at me.
At the end of the call I still couldn't help her; all we had done was further screw-up her Outlook by treating it like Outlook Express. She of course demanded my name and Operator ID because she was going to have me fired for not having helped her like she wanted, and she ended the call with the most cliche`d "WELL THANKS FOR NOTHING!" and slammed down the phone.
No idea why, but I'm litterally SHAKING over this. I'm trying to type it out, breathe deep, clear my mind... but I can't find it in me to take that next call! I couldn't handle another screamer. Maybe I'll take my lunch early and see if I can't calm down a bit more :(
